London Week 2 Adventures

July 21, 2016

What a week! We did a lot of the big tourist things last week so this week we did a lot of random things all over the city. In the beginning of the week we toured Shakespeare's Globe theatre and then explored Portobello Market. We went on a "silent tour" of the Globe, because there was a rehearsal going on for one of the shows, but it was really neat because we got to watch part of the rehearsal during our tour! Portobello Market was cool but not super exciting, it is supposed to be much better on the weekend. Portobello Market is near Notting Hill, and we went to a door that was in the film "Notting Hill." Tuesday we went to Abbey Road (the famous cross walk from the Beatles album cover). Later we went to Camden Market which had tons of cool little stands/shops and lots of good food! I had some fresh squeezed orange juice which was probably the best I've ever had. Wednesday we went to Sketch, a super cute tea place. We had reservations in the "pink room" for high tea, but we ended up getting smaller portions in their general seating area. Afterwords we went to a cute park where they were playing Breakfast at Tiffany's! Thursday we saw "The Taming of the Shrew" at the Globe and it was honestly one of the greatest pieces of theatre I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot of theatre!) I love Shakespeare but it is incredible to see it done so well. We had standing room only tickets and it kept me so interested that I didn't even notice the fact that we had been standing for nearly 3 hours! We ended the day at Borough Market, right near the globe for some delicious dessert!
