Freshman Dorm Room

Ole Miss Dorm Room Stewart Hall (Anchors and Pearls)
{Our room--with typical bad dorm lighting}
Tomorrow my parents are coming to help me move out of my dorm, and while I can't wait to get out of the dorms, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. My roommate and I met on Facebook last year (so it was not completely random) and we spent the entire summer texting, trying to coordinate every last inch of our room. Ole Miss is famous for perfectly matching and adorable rooms, but most of them are in Martin Hall. We ended up living in Stewart Hall, which has a much more central location, but unfortunately it has built in furniture so you are very limited with how you can arrange the beds and other furniture. We made the most of it, and the built in storage was actually really nice! Our room sometimes got a little messy during the week but we always cleaned it on the weekends so it stayed pretty clean. Overall living in a dorm, and having a communal bathroom really wasn't bad! I didn't have to worry about commuting to school everyday I only had to leave 10 minutes before class. All my friends were close by too! In a dorm you are constantly surrounded by people, but its actually really fun and you get to know everyone on your floor really well. I'm excited to live off campus next year and have my own room (though I love my roommate!), but these last few days in the dorm are so sad and I will definitely miss it next year!

  1. Your dorm room looked so cute! I think you and your roommate did an awesome job. I loved living in the dorms when I did. It was so convenient to live on campus, and I had an awesome roommate. We were strangers, but we ended up living together for two years. Congrats on finishing your freshman year!

    1. We used stick-on wallpaper from Target! There was peg board behind the desks so the wallpaper went on very easily, and came off fairly easily at the end of the year. It did peel a little bit of the paint off of the peg board, but anything would have done that (even tape) so it wasn't really a big deal.

  15. Your room is adorable! My daughter will also be in Stewart Hall in the fall. Were you in a corner room or a regular room. She would love to do her beds like you did but is not sure if she will have enough room. Also - what did you do with the desk chairs that came with the room. I love the cute ones you used but wondered what you did with the other ones. Thanks for your help!!

    1. We just had a regular room! There is definitely enough room to have the beds like that you just have to move them. Technically you're not supposed to take the chairs out of the dorm but theres these big rolling bins that they have to help you move in and my parents just put the chairs in there and took them home then brought them back with them when they came to move me out. Also if you don't need to make use of all of the storage in the cabinets above the desk, I believe the chairs will fit there (but I'm not 100% positive). Let me know if you have any other questions!
