Weekend in Tucson

February 28, 2018

A few weekends ago I flew to Arizona for a quick weekend trip to visit a friend from high school! I have only been to Arizona one other time but I have to say Arizona weather is ideal this time of year. It has been rainy and relatively cold for most of the past month (though things are beginning to warm up I think!) so the warm weather was ideal. My friend Chandler goes to the University of Arizona in Tucson so we just had a chill weekend there.

New Orleans & The Sugar Bowl

January 3, 2016

I just spent a few days in New Orleans! I've been wanting to go for ages and I finally got to go because my family went to spend New Years in New Orleans and watch Ole Miss play in the Sugar Bowl! We did all the fun tourist things and it was a super fun little trip! We went to the St. Louis Cathedral, the St. Louis Cemetery, explored the french quarter and walked up and down Bourbon Street. We even enjoyed some Beignets at the famous Café Du Monde! It was also great to see the Rebs win!!

Christmas in Chicago!!

December 23, 2015

We have had a super warm winter so far! When I came back to Illinois from school I was expecting it to be freezing because Illinois is usually super cold at this time of year but it has been in the 50s and even the 60s a lot this week! So when my mom and I took our annual Christmas trip to Chicago, the weather wasn't bad at all! We always go up to Chicago and go shopping, look at the Christmas lights and then eat dinner at the Walnut Room! The Walnut Room is a restaurant at the top of the Macy's in downtown Chicago and it is the most festive place to eat because they always decorate really well! If you want to eat there you have to go put your name in early in the day on a list for a table and they will give you a pager and tell you what time to come back to eat! Another fun thing to do in Chicago at Christmas time is go to the Christkindlmarket where they have tons of artisans from different countries! I had crepes and some of the best apple cider I've ever had!

Fashion Friday: Black and White Dress & {Chicago} Broadway

August 7, 2015

I'm currently in the middle of a musical (Guys and Dolls) through a community theatre in my home town. I had a few days off so my mom and I took advantage of my time off and went up to Chicago for an impromptu trip to see Pippin which just opened. I was able to get student "rush seat" tickets the day of the performance so we got them for really cheap! I'm a huge fan of the theatre and I always try to dress nicely when I go to a show. This dress was perfect for roaming around the city all day while being dressy enough for a night at the theatre. I love this dress because it is very versatile and can be worn with a cardigan or on its own for different seasons.

My 4th of July Weekend Up North!

July 7, 2015

Hey y'all! I just got home after a nice week up north at my friend Chandler's Grandparent's lake house near Minoqua, Wisconsin! This was my fifth year going with her and it has become the highlight of my summer! We spend our days going out on the lake, boating, swimming, and messing around on the paddle board. Chandler's grandma works at a nearby boys camp so we go over to the camp for their events a lot, and we're friends with some of the councilors. They live on Trout Lake which is so clear and beautiful (we even wash our hair in the lake!) The weather was perfect for our trip with warm sunny days and the lake water wasn't too cold.

Dressed up for dinner at the Country Club.

As many times as we have been in the area, we never knew that Woodruff, Wisconsin is home to the Worlds Largest Penny!

All dressed up for the "Third of July Party"

We rented a two person kayak for our last day!

Washington DC Part 3 {Where we ate}

June 17, 2015

This is my final post about my recent trip to Washington, DC! I wanted to share where we ate, because we went a lot of amazing places, and hopefully provide you with suggestions if you're ever in the DC area!

In Georgetown we went to The Tombs for lunch which was recommended by Carly from The College Prepster. For desert we went to Olivia Macaron where I had a strawberry champagne macaron (it was my first one!) and I must say it changed my life! It was amazing!

For breakfast one morning we went to Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, which was highly recommended when we were searching for doughnut places to try. I am not very adventurous so I only got a vanilla doughnut but they had some really crazy flavors like "maple bacon" for those who are interested in trying something different.

One of my favorite places that we tried was GCDC (Grilled Cheese District of Colombia!). They had every type of grilled cheese you could ever dream of and you could completely customize it! I am sort of obsessed with grilled cheese and GCDC was fantastic!

My favorite place we ate on the trip was Sugar Shack. It is a little doughnut place in Alexandria, and it served what were quite possibly the best doughnuts I have ever had. They were huge (my dad and I got a bunch cause we wanted to try them all) and we definitely overcommitted. My favorite was the "Apple Cake Doughnut" which was different than your average doughnut but not too crazy for me either.

On our last night we went back to Georgetown and tried Georgetown Cupcake from the TLC show "DC Cupcakes." They did not disappoint. At any point there is a line stretching out the door to try them. They had countless flavors to choose from though a few flavors had sold out as we got there right around closing. I tried the "Vegan Apple Cinnamon" cupcake, far from my usual vanilla, and I was very impressed!

Enjoying a milkshake and cupcakes on our last night!
