Washington DC Trip Part 1 {Days 1-4}

WARNING: Picture overload (I can't help myself!) Last week I had the opportunity to go Washington, D.C. with my family because my mom had to go on business. D.C. is one of my favorite cities so of course I loved every second of it! Over the next few days I will be sharing what I did!

Days 1 & 2: Family Visits!

My great Aunt and Uncle, and my second cousin and her family live in Maryland so we always go visit them when we go to D.C. For her birthday, I bought my second cousin's baby her first Lilly Pulitzer outfit and chose a dress that I had so that we could match. We spent a few days visiting with them, and my grandparents drove up to D.C. and brought my cousin from Florida with so that we could take him to see the sights.

Day 3: Sightseeing and Museums! 

On our third day my mom's cousin Jennifer took the day off to go sight seeing with us, even though she lives near-by she had never been up in the Washington Monument! We went to the top of the Washington Monument, went by the White House, went to the World War II Memorial, and went to the Museum of Natural History. You need tickets to go up in the Washington Monument and since it only recently reopened after renovations (from the earth quake that hit DC a few years ago), we knew it would be crowded and my dad went first thing in the morning to wait in line to get tickets.

 Day 4: More sightseeing! 

We went to the Lincoln and Jefferson Monuments in the morning. My dad and I both love the Jefferson because it is a beautiful monument but it is always quite a bit less crowded than the Lincoln Monument because it is a little bit further out of the way. We also love going to the back of the Lincoln Monument, it is much less crowded and has a really nice view. In the afternoon we went to the Holocaust Museum and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. You need to get tickets for both but they are free and you can get them the on day you want to go, we just went in the morning when it first opened so that we could have our pick of times.
