My Birthday in the Windy City

My birthday was this past Thursday, and to celebrate my mom took me to Chicago for the day to shop! We live only a couple hours away from the city so we go up to shop frequently but it was still a nice treat. We spent the day shopping at all the stores Central Illinois lacks (we pretty much have nothing) and eating fantastic food. 

Our first stop was at a little restaurant called Cheesie's Pub and Grub which is a restaurant devoted to grilled cheese, AKA heaven on earth. I ordered "The Mac" which was a grilled cheese with Mac & Cheese on it, combining two of my favorite foods. Needless to say I was in love and I would recommend this place to anyone who is going to be in the area, the only downside is that it was a little out of the way, as it was not within walking distance of the main downtown area. 

Seriously, the greatest thing I have ever eaten. 

After shopping for a little while we went to my favorite cupcake place, Sprinkles Cupcakes home of the famous Cupcake ATM. I am not very adventurous when it comes to food, and honestly I typically prefer homemade cupcakes over gourmet cupcakes, but Sprinkles is a major exception. They have a cinnamon cupcake (and a triple cinnamon cupcake) which is to die for. It is seriously so good. They have a ton of locations (I've been to the one in New York and D.C. as well) and if you are near one I highly recommend trying it--even if just to use the cupcake ATM!

We finished off our day with even more shopping (shocking I know...) and I got tons of goodies that I will be sharing soon! (Think Free People, Bloomingdales, Tory Burch, Sephora, and Lululemon!) As if we hadn't already eaten enough, right before we left we grabbed some Garrett Popcorn, a Chicago legacy.
