Snow Daze

February 27, 2015

With the bitter cold we've been having here in Mississippi and midterms just around the corner, let's just say I'm over school.

Just when I thought this week couldn't get any longer, my prayers were answered and we got a little weekend in the middle of the week! We didn't just get a little dusting of snow which is common enough here, we got a few inches of snow and campus went crazy! Classes were cancelled for two days, and everyone celebrated by sledding on makeshift sleds (I'm talking lids from storage containers, and dorm mattresses), and running around the snowy campus.

It was a real winter wonderland, and it came at the perfect time. I came south, to escape the cold, and until recently I haven't missed a thing about dreary Illinois winters. But just the other day it was flurrying but the snow wasn't sticking to the ground and I found myself feeling slightly homesick for snow, the kind that covers all of the grass, and gathers in untouched glory.

I spent my snow days with friends, watching Frozen, One Tree Hill on Netflix, and (I even surprised myself with this next one,) getting some work done to be ahead for next week. The snow days were the perfect end (hopefully) to this long winter, and the perfect break to give us the motivation to keep going until Spring Break.

xoxo
